Group psychotherapy offers an opportunity to discuss your problems and difficulties in a safe, supportive environment, with the help of an experienced and non-judgmental therapist and other group members.
Group psychotherapy can help you develop greater insight and understanding of yourself, and how you relate to other people. It can help you gain knowledge of how your past affects how you live now in the present. The group can also help you to identify and build on your strengths and inner resources. You can grow your self-esteem and confidence, and learn ways to take better care of yourself.
HOW TO JOIN A GROUP:
If you are interested in joining a Group, please contact me on (01892) 652899 to arrange an appointment for us to meet and discuss your needs, and what you are looking for from group therapy.
Prior to being accepted into the group, you will need to spend approximately half a dozen sessions in individual therapy with me. This is to assess whether group therapy would be appropriate for you, and to build and establish a good therapeutic relationship between us.
Group psychotherapy offers the opportunity to consider the changes you may wish to make in order to enhance your life, and help you decide how best to achieve them. You can then begin to make the changes with the ongoing therapeutic support of the therapist and other group members.
There is a group on Monday evenings and another on Thursday mornings. Both are suitable for people looking for medium to long term therapy and have a maximum number of seven clients. You can be a member of one but not both.
